Here’s a little experiment. Google (Images) “Most loved celebrities” note who is on the list, and then change the search to “Most hated celebrities.”…When I did this; all of a sudden, these lyrics came to mind.

One day you’re screaming you love me loud; the next day you’re so cold. (-Justin Timberlake and Jay z Holy Grail)

and First they love me, then they hate me, then they love me again. (-Jay Z Meet the Parents)

Almost all of the people who were on the “Hated” list were among the “Loved.”

People always hate the greats… It comes with the territory. We can’t spend our lives trying to get people to love us. We don’t need to: deep down they already do. Let’s just accept that they are threatened by our light.

I mean.. they hated, Jesus, our perfect example. When Jesus Came to Jerusalem; He came as King.
(John 12:12 (NIV) the next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. 13 They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting.)

Not long after, the people in that same place were the ones shouting, “Crucify him!”

Here was this man, who was doing things that had never been done: healing on the Sabbath, claiming to be one with the Father, and associating with the sinners. To them, his faith was blasphemous! It was too radical, and they did not want to accept change…

Even to save the World.

Mark 11: 18 the chief priests and the teachers of the law heard this and began looking for a way to kill him, for they feared him, because the whole crowd was amazed at his teaching.

When we are being hated for no reason it is hard; especially when all we want is the best for people. It’s not so bad being hated by people who have a “reason”; but when we are being hated and mocked by people we have never met, or people we only want the best for; it’s a hard pill to swallow. In those times, we should be the same as our perfect example. After these people beat and spit on Jesus, and were about to kill him, he asked God to forgive them…. Only Jesus.

Luke 23:34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”[c] And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.

Be encouraged because it’s not even you they hate.

It’s God in you…

John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Mark 12: 38 as he taught, Jesus said, “Watch out for the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and be greeted with respect in the marketplaces, 39 and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets. 40 They devour widows’ houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. These men will be punished most severely.”
